iPad 3 to run on an A6 CPU

BGR has got its hands on a photo showing iBoot running on a prototype of an iPad 3. The feedback that iBoot is providing is pretty interesting. It displays that the iPad 3 is (as expected) running on Apple’s new A6 CPU. The new CPU should be a quad-core model giving Apple the power to improve the screen (probably go retina) and combat Asus’ newest Transformer.

iPhone 4S Set for China Launch in Feb

China Telecom is set to be launching the new iPhone 4S from Apple later this month. The operator will be launching the CDMA version of the device which is exciting news for Apple fans in China. China Telcom is the third operator to carry the CDMA version of the iPhone 4s on it’s network.

Cheap Dual-Core CPU’s from Qualcomm

Qualcomm has introduced two new CPU’s for the production of cheap smartphones. The MSM8225 and MSM8625 both run on 1Ghz processors but have an Adreno 203-GPU which is less powerfull compared to the Adreno 205-GPU that is found in smartphones like the new Nokia Lumia 800 and the HTC Desire HD.

Nokia Intro’s the new Lumia 710

Following the successful release of the Lumia 800, Nokia has started to release the Lumia 710 in the APAC region. The Lumia 710 is the budget Windows Phone 7.5 device from the Finish company and will be hitting EMEA markets early 2012.

Samsung Sold 5 Mln Galaxy S II Devices

It took them 85 days, but Samsung now confirms it has managed to sell 5 million Galaxy S II devices. That news comes only 30 days after hitting 3 million sales.

Samsung’s Galaxy S WiFi Devices to Hit Europe

Samsung has announced it will start selling the Galaxy S mediaplayers in Europe. The 5 inch devices will premiere in Switzerland while Russia will be the first country to sell the 4 inchers.

250K Motorola Xoom’s Sold

Motorola is doing well. The company managed to generate 22% more revenues compared to the first quarter of 2010. The company also announced it has sold a quarter of a million Xoom tablets.

AMD Won’t Build ARM CPU’s

There have been some rumours going around that AMD would have acquired a licence to build ARM based CPU’s. The vendor has now announced it has no plans for ARM chips at all.
