Something new from O2 & Pocket Gamer

O2 and Pocket Gamer have announced a partnership where Pocket Gamer will make available shortcodes to download mobile games directly off the O2 deck.

Steel Media MD Chris James said: “We are proud to be working with O2 to provide this information, which will appeal to consumers and the industry alike. The weekly music charts caught the public’s imagination for decades, and there’s no reason why snack-priced mobile games should be any different.”

O2’s head of games Anthony Douglas explained: “We’re delighted to be working with leading mobile games editorial site Pocket Gamer, who will be exclusively publishing O2’s Top 10 sellers. Through this chart we aim to stimulate the sales of mobile games and guide consumers towards the best and most popular titles out there. By listing the Top 10 sellers and hottest new releases on a weekly basis, we hope to provide a useful and timely guide to the best in mobile content.”

Playman website renewed

October 30th, 2006 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Games | No Comments »

I have to admit I always loved the way Mr Goodliving handled promoting new mobile games by the use of minisites. It has been quiet for a while and now I see why. Mr. Goodliving has launched a totally renewed website for their sports star Playman. An excellent example of mobile game marketing worth a good look.

Quicklybored pointed us to the news of Mobility Mobile’s start-up. Mobility Mobile is the creation of former Gameloft and Activision people. This start-up reminds us a bit of Vivendi Mobile which holds a lot of key players from competing companies. We are curious to which products they will enter the market with.

Kiloo: Trolls & Dolls this Christmas

October 12th, 2006 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Games | No Comments »

InthexmassnowTraditionally, Danish publisher Kiloo will entertain us with a number of products for the Christmas season. This years line-up is even more impressive then the ones before as they bring us 4 titles. Two of these we already know from before as it’s the return of Hugo X-Mas Ice and Hugo X-Mas Snow which have received fresh porting for the season to compliment the newest mobile phones found under the Christmas tree. The warmest present Kiloo will give us is Jodie Marsh which will pose in a winter wonder land (yes, we’d like her under our tree as well). From the glamour that Jodie brings us, the last title brings us back to earth, or actually into space with Petey and Jaydee’s X-Mashed. Kiloo expects to have all these titles distributed before the end of the month.

Looking at this massive lineup we asked Karl Woods why Kiloo puts so much effort in creating and updating it’s catalogue to support 4 titles where many others just put one game into the market around this time.

“Why should we be any different to the traditional retail space, where xmas is all about choice. We want to give our customers the choice in selecting what’s right for them.” Said Karl Woods, EVP Sales & Marketing at Kiloo.
