JAMDAT and Nickelodeon Team Up to Bring Hit Shows “Dora the Explorer” and “Blue’s Clues” to Mobile Phones

Global wireless entertainment publisher JAMDAT Mobile Inc., announced today an agreement with Nickelodeon, the number-one-rated basic cable network for more than eight consecutive years (per Nielsen Media Research), to develop and distribute games for mobile phones based on top preschool properties, “Dora the Explorer” and “Blue’s Clues.”

Classic action-puzzle game coming to wireless devices

iFone, the wireless entertainment publisher, has signed a multi-year agreement with Psygnosis, a Sony Computer Entertainment company, for rights to the best-selling Lemmings game franchise. This agreement grants iFone exclusive wireless rights to Lemmings in Europe and North America, with the first Lemmings wireless games scheduled for Christmas 2004.

‘Lemmings’ is one of the world’s most successful games franchises, having sold over 10 million copies since its launch in 1990. The memorable lemmings characters of the game are small, green-haired beings that mindlessly walk en masse into any danger in their path. The first Lemmings game broke new ground in gameplay, winning multiple maximum review scores in games magazines. More …

New game targets lonely wireless subscribers

Artificial Life Inc. announced the upcoming release of Virtual Girlfriend, a J2ME-based mobile game featuring animated three-dimensional characters. Users can interact with their “girlfriends” via text or multimedia messages and can send virtual gifts to move on to higher game levels.

The characters follow daily and weekly schedules, taking trips to the mall or going out to restaurants, and their behavior is “based on scientific principles and algorithms,” according to a press release. More …. More … (2)

GAMING is emerging as big business in India coinciding with the growth of mobile and PC use and is expected to get a further thrust with broadband rolling out shortly.

According to Mr Gondal, last month 29 per cent of the downloads on AirTel were for Spiderman and 20 per cent for Van Helsing; the rest from existing 400 products. This clearly indicates the consumer shift to Hollywood-based gaming properties. More …
