The guys over at Fierce Mobile Content have spend some nights comparing dozens of applications to find their top 10. It’s a good list based on innovation and guess what? There is a game in it as well! I must say I enjoyed the list as it really displays the inventive ways companies utilise the ultimate in mobile. Good job guys!

Nokia N-Gage to sponsor BAFTA Gameplay Award

Nokia announced their sponsorship to the gameplay award at the BAFTA awards this year. The gameplay award is the only award handed out by public voted while all others are chosen by a professional jury.

EIEF06 Goes Mobile

And the industry has yet another award to battle for as the Edinburgh Interactive Entertainment Festival 2006 has issued a new award for mobile. This time, we may battle over the EIEF Edge award which will be handed out on August 21st. Looking at the nominees list, the award is not aimed at anything specific as the contestants are Dirty Sanchez from Infospace, Doom RPG from EA Mobile, Lumines Mobile from Gameloft and Tower Bloxx from Digital Chocolate. Voting starts August 4th at www.edge-online.co.uk.

Gameloft receives Mobile Games Studio Award

Gameloft has done it again. This time, they bring home the “Best Mobile Studio” award at the 2006 Develop Industry Awards during the Develop Conference in Brighton. The “Best Mobile Studio” was the only award that night, meaning Gameloft was the overall mobile winner at a distance. Gameloft reacted with pride to their victory and highly values the meaning of the award. “The award means a lot to us, knowing the passion and the amount of effort put in by everybody within our company to create the best possible games and to bring them to the market.” Said Alexandre Tan, country manager of Gameloft for the UK.

ME Awards: Gaming nominees

The ME Awards 2006 are coming along pretty fast now, so in the latest issue of Mobile Entertainment Magazine, the nominees where listed for the upcoming award show. In the mobile gaming sector, there are two categories;

Best Mobile Game Developer

– Digital Chocolate
– Mr. Goodliving
– Distinctive
– Morpheme
– Infospace

Best Games Publisher
– Glu
– I-Play
– Gameloft
– Hands-On
– EA
– THQ

The award show will be held at the Royal Garden Hotel, Kensington in London at the 19th of September.

Time to enter the “International Mobile Game Awards 2006”

Supported by sponsors like NVidia, Nokia, Adobe, Texas Instruments and the Movida Group, the IMGAwards 2006 are blasting off again after another successful show at 3GSM earlier this year.

Submissions are requested from all over the globe as the IMGAwards is all about original mobile game. Creativity is important and the IMGAwards is aimed at rewarding it, giving both the industry giants as well as hobbyists an equal chance to steal the show.

This years prices are split into “Most Innovative Game”, “Best Interactive Experience” , “Excellence In 3D”, “Best Use Of Connectivity” and of course “The Grand Prix”. Cash prices are available in all categories with additional prices for student entries ranging from new handsets to paid trips to 3GSM 2007 in Barcelona.

All entries should be send in before September the 11th. The shortlist of the 20 finalists will be announced on September the 20th. The 26th of January, the entered concepts should be finished products. The final judging and ceremony will be held during the 3GSM event in Barcelona at the 14th of February.
