Back in June, EA started 8lb. With the studio, the company would release 99 cents titles for the iPhone at a monthly rate. Yet we haven't seen anything except their first title Zombies & me.

Unity Technologies Secures $5.5M in Funding

Unity Technologies has just closed their series A funding round. The company managed to secure $5.5 Million from Sequoia Capital, David Gardner (CEO Atari) and Diane Greene (VMWare Founder).

Glu in Deloitte’s Fast 500

Deloitte has compiled its Fast 500 2009 listing for North America and Glu managed to get hold of the 129th position. Given the circumstances of the executives that left/are leaving, this listing is a very positive sign.

Hands-On Restructuring Results in Layoffs

Earlyer this week, we reported that Hands-On was changing its focus again and that David White, the CEO, left. As a result of the restructuring, several employees will be sent home by the company.

Apple Sets iPhone Sales Record

Yesterday, Apple revealed their earnings for their fourth quarter of 2009. The company turned over $9.87 billion in revenues and sold a record number of iPhones during the quarter.

Blue Beck Resurrected

After selling the Blue Beck Studios to M-Forma in 2004, the name was more or less forgotten as it was functioning as a production unit for the company (later Hands-On, then probably sold to Connect2Media).

PopCap Secured $22.5 Million Funding

PopCap has just confirmed it's first round of funding and has successfully raised $ 22,5 million in it. The funding round was lead by Meritech Capital Partners.

Thurday, Jill Braff suddenly announced that she will be leaving at the end of this week. With her leaving, the company would be floating around but… since yesterday, Glu seems to be doing very well on the stock market.

Ideaworks3D Splits

Following a strategic investment from ARM, developer Ideaworks3D has now announced that the company will split up in Ideaworks Labs and Ideaworks Game Studio (and so it loses the 3D).
