Global Fun to release Rafa Nadal Tennis
October 16th, 2006 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Brand Licensing | No Comments »
Global Fun announced its intentions to bring forward a tennis game under the license of Raphael (Rafa) Nadal. Rafa is the new UK tennis hero as at a young age he’s already dominating the field. He’s often compared to Boris Becker.
"Rafa Nadal Tennis is the typical type of brand we like to work with. It is a positive brand and the game has extremely tight game-play with high production quality and a professional developer behind it. I believe the end-users of our customers will enjoy playing it as much as we do" commented Bertil Krumnack, COO GlobalFun.
"As a production company we are extremely quality oriented and never settle for 2nd best. We felt that GlobalFun shared the same values we have and as their distribution in the agreed upon markets is quite impressive, the appointment of them as publishers came easy", said Fabriciano Bayo, CEO of Virtual Toys.

Capcom has announced it will bring three more games from their console range to the mobile phone. They will kick off with Warriors Of Fate. Warriors Of Fate is set in ancient China where you are involved in the battles for power. Fresh from the Xbox 360, we will also see Lost Planet entering our phones where we take the battle to aliens on an icy planet. The last title is coming from the Nintendo DS. Phoenix Wright will put you into the life of a defense attorney where you need to collect evidence, watch out for inconsistent testimonies and of course deal with bribes.

Player X just listed yet another TV show to it’s range of successful mobile games as it announced it will sell “Sale of the century”. Support for this title is a bit remarkable as the show has been broadcasted a real long time ago which might mean that a big part of the mobile games will probably not recognize it directly.
"Our partnership with Player X will extend the Sale Of The Century brand presence to masses of fans familiar with the show as well as a much broader base of consumers who are simply looking for a fun and interactive game to play on their mobile phones," said Dominic Burns, Vice President, Licensing, UK, FremantleMedia Licensing Worldwide.
"This is the latest in a line of FremantleMedia TV gameshows that we have brought to mobile and Sale Of The Century is a classic of its kind. We’re confident that Sale Of The Century will follow this proud tradition," said Tony Pearce, Player X CEO.
The game will host 400 unique questions to test the consumer and be targeted at Europe and Australia.

Verisign and JoWood seem to have conceived a deal in which the JoWood games portfolio will be converted to mobile games. If this also hold’s JoWood’s Yetisports range is not expected as those are allready available for some time. We expect the games to pop up trough Verisign’s Ojom unit.
“VeriSign is committed to providing the richest content with an exceptional user experience that is most relevant to our customer’s customer,” said Kevin Dent, Head of International Licensing and Syndication for VeriSign. “JoWooD has great blockbuster brands which we feel can make an easy transition to the mobile space. Deal Or No Deal licensing

Though Overloaded, which was previously owned by Endemol, started selling the first Deal or no Deal games in several countries, the license now seems to get spread amongst several companies. Earlier this week, Gameloft announced their purchase of the license from Endemol UK, which restricted them to the UK. Today, Mobliss announced to also have the license, but from Endemol USA. This possitiones Mobliss to operate the license in probably the biggest market and makes me curious about the results compared to Glu‘s “Who wants to be a millionaire”.

Scout Sniper for Abandon
September 25th, 2006 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Brand Licensing | No Comments »
Abandon Mobile has set up a partnership with the US Marine Scout/Sniper Organisation to bring games forward under their name. In return, they have deposit 15% of the sales into the organization.
"Marine snipers are an integral component in keeping our country safe, and we’re honored to be chosen as the developer and publisher behind such a unique title," said Jamie Ottilie, President and COO of Abandon Mobile. "Working with The US Marine Scout/Sniper Association helps ensure that not only is our game true-to-life, but also benefiting a great cause in supporting troops both at home and overseas."
The situation where a game is licensed from a US government body is not abnormal. We have seen it before with S.W.A.T. Sniper from InfoSpace and later the S.W.A.T. games from Vivendi Mobile.
