Popeye, From HandsOn to Namco

It seems to be happening more and more these days, licenses shifting from one developer to another. Today it’s Namco who found Popeye to be available, while HandsOn had released a Popeye racer mobile game about 2 years ago.

The guys over at MoCoNews have kept track of I-Play’s David Gosen that spoke about targeting licensed content for sequels. It might sound a bit obvious to use one license for multiple mobile games, but it is worth to have a read.

SilverBirch Studios to Produce Ice Planet Mobile Game

Spaceworks Entertainment and SilverBirch announced to have started the
production of a mobile game related to the Ice Planet HD-TV Sci-Fi
Series that features Michael Ironside.

GDC: Gameloft Announced Full N-Gage Line-Up

With the Nokia press releases just submitted, Gameloft already followed up with details about their titles for the new N-Gage mobile games platform. Though most of the titles don’t form a real surprise, they do lift the expectations further.

GDC: Age of Empires, From In-Fusio to Glu

Sometimes it feels like there is no end to the bad news that strikes In-Fusio lately. After starting their legal fight with Microsoft over Halo, all Microsoft licenses went straight into Glu‘s portfolio. Age of Empires III is no exception to this rule and follows licenses like PGR.

Deal or no Deal a Massive Hit in The UK

Gameloft’s smallest license when it comes to territory seems to pay off well as Deal or no Deal rules the sales charts in the UK. Released in November 2006, the game boosted right into the first spot on the operators and stayed there for three months.

Another 5 Years of Annoying Thing

Myriad interactive has announced to have signed The Annoying Thing aka Crazy Frog for another five years from Kaktus Film. This means the industry will not see the frog disappear from its outlets until 2012.

SEGA and Glu Extend partnership

In contradiction to rumors that where spreading trough the industry like fire, Glu doesn’t have to worry about an expired license just yet. SEGA and Glu announced the extension of their partnership. The extension will allow Glu to keep developing and distributing SEGA Mobile games based on the current licenses and Football Manager Quiz, Total War and Wonderboy.

Hudson to Bring TurboGrafx Games to Mobile

Hudson has started to port their back catalogue of TurboGrafx games to the mobile gaming platform. The games will not be direct ports as Hudson does aim to improve both graphics and gameplay for optimized use on mobile.
