Unity Passes 1 Million Registered Developers

Unity Technologies, the provider of the well known middleware, announced that 1 million developers are registered to their services. On top of that, the engine and tools had over 6 million downloads to date.

According to SuperData, the mobile gaming market has the potential to reach a market value of $7.5 billion by 2015. The increase of value goes hand-in-hand with the increase of the amount of smartphones being sold.

Flurry: Amazon Appstore Closing in on iTunes App Store

The latest report from Flurry shows that Amazon might soon outgrow Apple’s App Store when talking revenues. The revenues originating from the Amazon Appstore are 89% of those originating from the iTunes App Store.

Nielsen: 49,7% of US Subs own a Smartphone

As of February, Nielsen reports that nearly half of the US residents with a mobile contract own a smartphone. In February 2011, the percentage of smartphone owners was just 36%.

Dutch Operator Launches its own Android

Dutch operator KPN has announced the launch of the new Smart 200 device. The Smart 200 is a new Android phone developed specially for the Dutch operator to cater to smartphone-unaware consumers.

Flurry: China Leads in iOS and Android Activations

Early 2011, China ranked 10th when it came to registered app sessions. This year, the country already ranked second and next year… probably first as the county now activates the most iOS and Android devices.

IDC: Developers Less Interested in Android

According to a study from IDC, developers are losing interest in developing apps for the Android platform. Last year, 87% of the developers had an interest in developing for Android. This year, it is down to 79%.
