SonyEricsson seems to be bridging the gap between Flash Lite and J2me with their Capuchin project. With the project, Flash Lite can be used for the frontend, while the backend is pure J2me.
With Capuchin, developers actually wrap a Flash Lite user interface right into a J2me application. In theory, even wrapping up a full Flash Lite application into J2me should be possible, and thus make it easy to distribute on established J2me networks. (Thinking about it, this even adds the possibility for Flash Lite games, to enter advertgaming networks like Greystripe without problems – red.)
The launch of SonyEricsson’s Capuchin project should be in the second half of 2008. Capuchin will be available for free to the whole development community.
