Palm has leaked version 1.2 of their WebOS toward consumers. 2.1 allows Palm to remove software and consumers to complete purchases directly from the device.
It also allows consumers to have their location detected via Google Services instead of GPS. Something that might hint to cheaper WebOS devices. Consumers can also shut down data roaming and safe pictures in their browsers.
More important for our industry however is that the new OS allows purchases from the App Catalog to be fulfilled directly from the device itself. There is an extra menu in the firmware that holds creditcard information.
Also, there was a hint that Palm can remotely remove software from the WebOS device. In one of the files, a user noticed this error message: "Palm had to delete this application from the App Catalog and your device. If you paid for this app, your money will be refunded."
Version 1.2 of WebOS was discovered when a consumer tried to restore factory settings via WebOS Doctor, a Palm tool. He discovered that the tool was installing the new version instead of the old one. The official releasedate of 1.2 is unknown at the moment.
