Bouncer Bounces Malware from Android Market

February 6th, 2012 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: AndroidOS | 1 Comment »

Google has started to fight malware off of their precious Android Market. As most developers know, the place is kinda flooded with it but the new Bouncer service should clean up the mess there.

Google’s Bouncer checks new apps that are launched for potential malware. At the same time, the service also checks the profiles of the developer. The permissions of the new bouncer go far. The software is able to remotely remove malware from Android devices as well. A measure that Google will only take in case of emergency. Since the service was put into action, the malware level went down a massive 40% in the second half of 2011.
