It has been a rumor for some time, but RIM (maker of the famous business focused Blackberry device series) has announced that they will release an App Store like mobile games and applications channel.
The channel (which will be both online and on-device) is expected to launch by the end of Q1 2009. Just like with the Android store, developers will be able to upload their games well before launch date.
The channel will be very lucrative for developers as RIM only takes 20% of the revenues. This means developers can invest more in creating compelling mobile games. In reality though, we are still talking business phones which often have tight policies installed. This means it might be hard to create a market that equals that of the iPhone.
