BlackBerry 7; The Details

May 3rd, 2011 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: BlackBerry | No Comments »

Yesterday, RIM unveiled the BlackBerry 7 OS. That OS would have been the first smartphone OS from RIM to work on the QNX platform it bought earlyer and implemented in the BlackBerry Playbook.

Would be indeed, as BlackBerry 7 turned out to be what RIM had in mind for the 6.1 release. That is, no QNX at all. Top features of the Blackberry 7 release are a faster browser, a better Java compiler and BlackBerry Balance. A profiling system that will allow users to use the device both for work and private life without sacreficing security or privacy. The real next update for the firmware, with QNX, is expected early 2012.
