It seems that Apple, Google, Microsoft and others might be facing Korean problems in Australia. Just like in Korea, the government has proposed a legislation that obligates App Store owners to get their content rated.
For ratings, the government is likely to appoint Australia’s Classification Board, a committee that is already responsible for rating movies and normal games. Right now, they have to authority over apps as pretty much all of them are hosted outside the country.
Fearing the workload of rating hundreds of thousands of apps, it is likely the government plans to obligate ratings to apps that cause complaints first.
