The Russian developer Dynamic Pixels has announced that it's AquaPhone game has attracted 1 million gamers within the Russian Federation. The biggest success for the company isn't in just selling the game, but the highly attractive micro payments market.
When the mobile game was launched back in 2006, the company chose to just give it away and try to earn on in-game sales of in-game credits. To increase the distribution, gamers that get their friends to download the mobile game are even awarded with additional credits.
“We are absolutely happy to become the first publisher in the region with such a high-yielding and celebrated IP with the sales of such amount, thanks to the most innovative business model we’ve integrated into AquaPhone”, says Dynamic Pixels’ General Director Mihail Minakov.
That is a great marketing strategies.. difficult to pull off, but if executed correctly… well, you can see the results. 🙂
good job!
