Apple Responds to iTunes Fraud

July 7th, 2010 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: iOS | No Comments »

Yesterday, we wrote about developer Thuat Nguyen, who was using stolen iTunes credentials to generate huge amounts of sales on his apps. Today, Apple responded to the case.

Apple notified the press that the apps of the developers have been removed from the App Store because the developers violated the TOS on basis of fraudulent purchase patterns. Apple also confirmed once again that developers don’t receive any account information of consumers.

Consumers who notice fraudulent purchases on their accounts should change their passwords and ask for a chargeback through their creditcard agency. Apple did not say anything on how this could have happened, if there are more developers who are being booted off the app store or what they will do to prevent this from happening again.
