Four days after Apple started to remove sexually themed apps, the company’s SVP of Worldwide Product Marketing, Phil Schiller, responded in an interview with the New York Times.
He explained that Apple has simply been responding to consumer complaints by removing apps that hold suggestive content. Women had responded to the company, failing complaints on degrading content while parents were raising concerns over the content visible to their kids (what about the age 17 filter?).
The journalist asked Phil why apps like Playboy and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2010 are still online;
“The difference is this is a well-known company with previously published material available broadly in a well-accepted format,” said Phil Schiller.
