Following a test by the Free Software Foundation, it turns out that the GPLv2 license is incompatible with the Terms of Service of Apple. This makes it hard for developers to release their software under GPL.
The most important bottleneck is “You may not impose any further restrictions on the recipients’ exercise of the rights granted herein” which explains that it is not possible to further restrict the GPL license by any means. That includes applying the TOS from Apple. For those that want the bit-by-bit explanation, check the original article.
Congratulations
