The Android Market team has announced several updates to their service. Mobile game developer are now able to target their products toward more markets.
Its now possible to distribute your free (ad-funded) mobile games in France, Italy, Spain, Canada, Portugal, Switzerland and Ireland. Sadly enough, only France, Italy and Spain have Android based devices in their markets.
Buyer support will soon go live in France, Spain and The Netherlands. The possibility to sell games in Germany, Austria, The Netherlands, France and Spain is also expected to be available in a couple of weeks.
In regards to localization, the Android Market now supports English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Czech and Polish languages.
To improve compatibility, developers can now select the minimal required SDK version. This will allow consumers to make sure their device is ready for your game. For now, the team advices developers to make sure their games work on version 1.1 of the platform. Future proofing toward 1.5 is a pre.
