Android Piracy Heatmap

August 27th, 2010 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: AndroidOS | No Comments »

Android developer Keyes Labs has recently released an app called Screebl Pro. As most expect with Android Market apps, the app has been pirated a lot. In fact, there has been so much piracy, this developer decided to create a heatmap.

In three months time, their app was installed 8.659 times while the company registered only 2.831 sales. The developer linked the rogue installs to locations and created a global heatmap of Android pirates. Though the information is of course limited to just one app, it does show that mainly eastern countries don’t respect the copyrights.
