Last week, Google launched the Android Dashboard. Through this dashboard, developers can gain insights into the adoption of new Android OS versions by consumers. Android 1.6 is leading the charts.
With a 27.7% of Android owners still at version 1.5 and 54.2% at 1.6, it seems that Android OS upgrades are a big problem compared to the iPhone. This is mostly due to operators and vendors not providing the upgrades consumers need.
