Android Coming to Ubunto

May 27th, 2009 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: AndroidOS | No Comments »

Canonical Though Ubunto is one of the most well known Linux distributions out there, Canonical (the commercial party behind Ubunto) has announced that the Linux distribution will be upgraded to support Google’s Android apps.

As most of you already know, Android apps are created in a special version of the Java Runtime. This means that developers are not developing native applications that run directly on the Linux core (yet). This also makes it impossible to run Android apps on any other Linux distribution.

By adding Android support to Ubunto, Canonical increases their developer base as it will be much more easy to develop a game or applications that runs on both platforms.
