Agon Passes 200 Developers

July 22nd, 2009 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: iOS | 5 Comments »

Agon Agon, an iPhone community we haven't discussed before, has announced that the company has 200 developers signed up and sees Agon powered games launching on a regular basis.

This is great news for the platform as it is competing with various others like ComScore, Aurora Feint and Crystal. Yet, this big number of developers doesn't mean the platform is actually one of the bigger community platforms.

In a lot of cases, developers do sign up, but never actually release anything with it. The same is happening with Apple itself as there are more developers than actual products. This is something all community platforms will be facing.

"For a small development house like ours, setting up a scalable solution for global high scores and achievement tracking would normally be a nightmare. With AGON, we don't have to worry about the backend or scalability, and it was only a matter of minutes before we had it up and running in our game." said Jerrod Putman, Tiny Tim Games

The SDK is available here.

    1. After looking at several solutions I came across AGON here and integrated plus tested the SDK in about 2 to 3 hours on our newest iPhone fruit machine title ‘AstroSlots’. AGON currently filled the gap in our software regards social/online play.
It works, so Thumbs up from me!

I guess that you meant to write Scoreloop and not ComScore. I am not aware that ComScore is active in the social mobile gaming area.

Yes, that was Scoreloop indeed 🙂

I’ve used the AGON Online service, and I absolutely love it! It is very quick and easy to implement into games. I also love that it has Facebook Connect and Twitter support. I would recommend it to anyone without hesitation.
If you’d like to see it in action, you can see it in Prolix. We have not added the ability to post to Twitter yet, but that will be coming very, very soon.

    5. Just used AGON Online again in another of our forthcoming iPhone/iTouch titles ‘Superstar DJ’ which makes use of online hi-scores and awards – great!
