June 23rd, 2009 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: iOS | No Comments »

Apple Apple has officially announced that the company managed to push 1 million iPhone 3GS devices out the door in just three days time. This while 6 million iPhone owners to date downloaded firmware 3.0.

With these numbers, Apple shows that yet again, the iPhone demographic is growing for the third time in a row. Yet, current owners don't seem to rush into updating their current models. From the 20 million devices out there, only 30% updated their devices to 3.0.

“Customers are voting and the iPhone is winning,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “With over 50,000 applications available from Apple’s revolutionary App Store, iPhone momentum is stronger than ever.”

At PocketGamer, they found a survey from Piper Jaffray that says that 12% of the new iPhone owners ditched their BlackBerry's. 56% where upgrading from previous models. This means there are another 560.000 potential new App Store consumers that enter with second hand devices.
