Good news for Windows Mobile developers. The new Windows Marketplace is on schedule which means that it will be opening up for developers on July 27th of 2009.
This annoucnement was made by Todd Brix on the Windows Team Blog. On opening, Microsoft expects to support developers from a total of 29 countries; Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong SAR, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, New Zealand, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, United Kingdom, and the United States.
Marketplace will support Windows Mobile phones from 6.5 and up on launch and… by the end of 2009, it will also work on Windows Mobile 6.0 and 6.1! To make it more interesting for developers to sign up, Microsoft will also hold a development competition. Details are unknown at this moment though.
