Though it is far from official, there are a lot of rumours flying around on the web about Microsoft's plans to possibly rebrand Windows Mobile 6.5 to Windows Phone.
This rumour should have started when a Microsoft Employee slipped the plans at an event. He explained that versioning was confusing for consumers. Using a simple name like Windows Phone would be a lot more easy to understand.
Microsoft is not confirming the rumours, but it does say that it will call devices based on Windows Mobile 6.5 a 'Windows Phone'. Even in The Netherlands, that exact term will be used instead of the local translation 'Windows Telefoon'.Also, all 6.5 devices will have a harware button with the Windows logo on it to make it more recognizable for consumers.
Congratulations
