Sony Debuts Floating Touch Technology

March 13th, 2012 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: AndroidOS | No Comments »

Today, Sony introduced their new Xperia Sola smartphone. The device, running on a 1Ghz dual-core CPU and Android 2.3 (ICS upgrade coming) introduces a new technology to developers called Floating Touch.

Floating Touch allows developers to register fingers before they actually touch the screen. On the device itself, consumers can already use the technology to scroll through webpages without having to touch the screen of their device. Sony has already announced it will make SDK’s for this technology available to Android developers world-wide. When the SDK’s will be ready is something Sony didn’t announce yet.
