Microsoft Claims WindowsPhone.nl

August 4th, 2009 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: Windows Mobile | 1 Comment »

Microsoft It seems the branding Windows Mobile to Windows Phone has already been started by Microsoft as the Redwood giant has started a claim for WindowsPhone.nl, a domain owned by a hobbyist.

The current owner, Jeremy Tjon, registered the domain on the second of January.to build a forum for Windows Mobile users. Microsoft now claims that Jeremy had insider knowledge on the subject as Microsoft announced the name change only two weeks later.

Microsoft now claims that the domain is infringing their trademark and so, needs to be carried over to the company. Microsoft expects that Jeremy was in it to make some quick money. Jeremy however claims to have been unaware of the name change and created the site out of goodwill.

Jeremy now has two roads to choose. One is taking the legal route, which he can hold on to for some time (a budget of several thousands or Euro's) or make a deal with Microsoft. He will probably take the legal route as settling with Microsoft would confirm that he would be in it for the money.

Jeremy Tjon works for PDASHOP.nl the biggest WM retailer in NL. He has several more (obscure) domains registered for his own profit.
      http://www.msmobiles.nl is one of those.
He is only in it for the money.
