Google has made a major change to the filesize restrictions on Android Market. From now on, Google will allow apps that are 4GB in size. That’s four times the amount of space Google provides on the standard Nexus One.
Google is forced so up the limits as graphics intensive games and apps are becoming increasingly popular on the platform. Up until now, Google limited developers to a maximum filesize of 50MB. Google will work with expansion files to make this possible. Newer Android devices will start installing the expansions as soon as the initial app is installed. Older devices will ask the user to download the expansions when they are first started. Google advices developers to use the first expansion file for the app itself and the second to deliver patches to the consumer.
