MWC: App Devs to pay for AT&T Data Usage

February 27th, 2012 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Analysis & Editorial | No Comments »

AT&T seems set to allow developers to pick up the databill for consumers on the operator’s network. The service will allow developers to create apps that function in a similar way as toll-free phone numbers.

The plan will allow developers to tell consumers they will not have to pay for any network usage, which could be a great plus for insurance companies and other service providers that would benefit from connected consumers. It could also bring a new impulse to data-heavy apps like the ones used for TV and Radio streams.
