Nokia to Launch WP7 Store

April 22nd, 2011 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: Windows Phone | No Comments »

Microsoft and Nokia have signed their cooperation agreement earlier than both expected and that brought some interesting news to the table. Nokia is the first vendor that will have their own WP7 store.

Without doubt, this is a slab in the face for Samsung, LG and HTC that supported Windows Phone from the start and only got a ‘private’ space in Windows Marketplace to promote their own apps.

Nokia announced that developers will have a single place to submit their apps to Symbian, S40 and Windows Phone 7 devices and we can only guess the name will remain Ovi.

To support the new store, Nokia is also ramping up on mobile payments for Windows Phone devices. It will bring in 112 operators.
