Sony Ericsson Allows Custom Android Roms on Xperia

March 29th, 2011 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: AndroidOS | No Comments »

Sony Ericsson made an interesting move today as the company announced it will allow consumers to run custom roms on their Xperia (Android) hardware. The company will even be providing the tools.

Sony Ericsson will be releasing a special tool called the Bootloader Unlocker. The tool will allow consumers to install custom roms on their hardware non-operator branded hardware. The tool will work on the Xperia Arc, Neo, Pro and Play. SE hopes this move will positively influence software development.
