Nielsen: Apple and RIM Lead in the US

March 4th, 2011 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Research & Stats | No Comments »

According to Nielsen, RIM and Apple have been leading the smartphone market in the United Stated over the priod from November 2010 till February 2011. Both managed to get 27% of the market in that period.

All Android devices together had a 29% marketshare, but with the list being about vendors, that was not good enough to give any Android vendor a leading position in the market. HTC had 12%, Motorola 10%, Samsung 5% and the other 2% goes to vendors like LG. When taking Windows Mobile and Windows Phone 7 in account, HTC has a total market share of 19%, putting it right behind Apple and RIM.
