Research in Motion made a whole lot of interesting announcements today. One of them is that the company has plans to release additional Playbooks for LTE and HSPA+ markets in H2 2011.
App World
RIM also announced it will be upgrading BlackBerry App World with gifting options for airtime, apps and other services. BlackBerry App World is now available in 101 markets (27 have been added recently). RIM will also be adding an app of it’s own to App World called Blackberry Travel. It is (as you might expect) a trip planner.
BlackBerry Partners Fund II
Furthermore, Blackberry will commit to opening a second BlackBerry Partners Fund with a value of $150 million to go around. The fund will launch in June.
