February 13th, 2011 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Smartphones & Tablets | No Comments »

LG’s Optimus has seen the daylight at MWC today. The hardware could make the Optimus 3D a preferred device for techsensitive Android users.

Next to the 4.3” autostereoscopic screen, the Optimus 3D runs on a dualcore 1Ghz OPAM 4 CPU from TI. The graphics are powered by a PowerVR SGX540 that can also be found in the Salaxy S from Samsung. LG also said that the Optimus 3D will hold four times more media codecs than any competing phone.

“I’m confident that this year, LG will emerge as a leader in the next generation of smartphone and tablet devices,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “What you see here today is just the beginning — we will continue to innovate with products that address consumer needs and deliver benefits that live up to our `Life`s Good` commitment.”

LG also took the opportunity to confirm the Optimus Pad aka G-Slate. A 8.9” internet tablet capable of displaying FULL HD video at 1080p while the screen resolution is set at 1280×768. It runs on Android 3.0 and holds a Nvidia Tegra-2 dual core 1Ghz CPU. It also holds a 3D camera.
