Symbian to Keep Half the Market?

Symbian-foundation In an interview with Reuters, David Woods from Symbian explained that Symbian expects to keep hold of 50% of the smartphone market over competitors like Microsoft and Apple.


The foundation expects to see 1 billion Symbian powered phones in the market. This should take between 3 and 4 years. They expect the market for the OS will benefit from the growing demand for smartphones.

To achieve this, the company will first start off with satisfying it's development community. The foundation has 150 partners under which various handset vendors including of course Nokia. Nokia will be using Symbian on more low end handsets, but has also shown affection for Meamo on hi end models.
