Ovi Testing Re-Download Service

September 24th, 2009 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: J2me, Platforms: Symbian | No Comments »

Ovi

The guys at AllAboutSymbian have uncovered that Nokia is field testing a re-download service for Nokia's Ovi store. This means apps and games will be tied to a person and not a set device.

The crew found out that this service was working for some apps and games on the N97, E55, 5800 WM and the E75. If Nokia would bring this service live, it will have a strong service toward consumers that many other channels don't offer yet and it could mean that consumers hold on to the Nokia brand as they want to avoid loosing the value they built over time. A similar think that is going through the minds of many Apple consumers at the moment.
