Microsoft to Re-Lock Unlocked Devices

December 8th, 2010 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: Windows Phone | No Comments »

As it turns out, Microsoft seems to have implemented a little trick into their devices that re-locks devices that have been unlocked through the  ChevronWP7 tool.

This news comes from the developers of ChevronWP7. They reported that Windows Phone 7 devices contact Microsoft’s servers every two weeks to check if the unlocked status is valid. If not, the device will revert into it’s old state and side loaded apps can no-longer run on it. Microsoft clearly evens the match.
