Microsoft’s strategy to position Windows Phone 7 toward consumers seems to be working well as Games seem to be the most important part of the platform’s app portfolio.
According to Distimo’s research, the ten most popular apps on Windows Phone 7 are all games and are being sold between $2.99 and $6.99. When limiting to the top free apps, only 2 of them are games. From the top ten apps, 6 are published by Microsoft itself. Microsoft seems better at this game than Apple or RIM who only have 4 own apps in the top 10.
