Joystick held an interesting interview with SCEA's Eric Lempel about the introduction of the Minis as well as the possibility of the Minis being published on the good old UMD.
He explains that the launch of the Minis platform resulted in the biggest number of PSN downloads ever and the second biggest amount of sales in a week time. If the channel remains successful, there might even be a chance of the mini's concept being translated to the PS3.
He also went into details on why Sony is no longer interested in publishing the Minis on UMD for markets where Internet penetration is a problem. The reason for aborting this strategy right now is because of legal and piracy issues. Putting so many small games on a UMD just brings in too much paperwork and risk.
