The Korean company Kaonmedia was present on the IBC event in Amsterdam to show off their huge collection on Settop and IPTV boxes. One of them really caught our attention as it was both very small and running on Android 1.5.
The Kaon WebTube only needs an internet connection to stream hundreds of free TV channels as well as YouTube content. The device doesn’t support Android Market, but Kaon’s own ‘TV Application Market’. Unlike Google, Kaon checks all apps it is offering by hand to make sure they are suitable for use on TV.
Content is very important to the company, so it is open to accept apps from other developer. One thing they don’t have however is any form of billing. So apps have to be free or ad-supported.
The WebTube is available online and is shipped to any country. The device ships for about $150 which is pretty cheap for such a nice toy.
Congratulations
