SaurikIT LLC, the company behind the infamous Cydia App Store for Jailbroken iOS devices has acquired Rock Your Phone Inc, operator of the Rock.App store that also targets jailbroken iOS devices.
While Cydia has always been the number one app store for consumers that are looking for non-Apple-approved apps, Rock.App has always ranked second. SaurikIT will be merging both app stores and drop the Rock.App name. This move brings 21.000 new items for the Cydia store and increase its position on the market.
Rock.App had 2 million registered users. 280.000 paid for 500.000 app licenses. The Rock.App catalogue was filled by 124 developers from 19 countries. Rock had 9 employees and a turnover of 3.3 million USD between March 2009 and September 2010.
