Apple Drops Game Center for iPhone 3G and iTouch 2G

August 4th, 2010 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: iOS | No Comments »

Apple has just released the third beta of iOS 4.1, meaning it will soon be ready to ship to consumers world-wide. iOS 4.1 is still iPhone only so iPad users will still have to wait some time before they can use multitasking.

The biggest change between Beta 2 and Beta 3 is that Apple has dropped support for Game Center on second generation iPod Touch devices as well as iPhone 3G models, which will have implications for developers implementing Game Center directly into their games as well as systems like OpenFeint that would be extending Game Center as they have to fill the gap for part of the iOS 4.1 users.
