PlayMesh’s Fishies In-App Purchases go Wrong, Bigtime…

July 12th, 2010 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: iOS | No Comments »

PlayMesh is one of the first and biggest publishers of freemium games on the App Store. With their latest game, Fishies, it seems like the company ran into troubled waters. In the Fishies game, consumers can setup their own aquarium with both living creatures as well as a huge amount of decorations. Consumers can purchase those with pearls and pearls are sold at $0,99 per 10. Addicts are also offered to purchase a batch of 1.950 pearls for $149,99 and that is where the problems start.

When in the process of purchasing, it seems the app is not always asking for iTunes credentials, resulting in unintended purchases. When looking at reviews of the game, it turns out that is also often crashes during purchases which leads to in-app payments without actual distribution of the bought virtual goods.

At this moment, there is no announcement from PlayMesh concerning the reported problems.
