US Government Launches App Store

July 7th, 2010 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Other news | No Comments »

The US Government has launched an app store to promote official government applications to consumers. Despite Obama’s preference to the Blackberry platform, it only holds iPhone and Web Apps.

Amongst the 18 apps provided is My TCA, an app that provides airport information like delays and that is and isn’t allowed to take with you. Another app from the FBI lets users see the most wanted criminals.

More apps will be coming to the government app store, but it is not clear what the device support strategy will be like.
