Apple Sells 1.7 Million iPhone 4’s in 3 Days

June 28th, 2010 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: iOS | No Comments »

In the first three days of sale, Apple managed to push a record number of 1.7 million units out the door. It is also the first time the introduction happens in five countries at the same time.

Last Thursday, consumers in the US, UK, Germany, France and Japan were the first to be offered to buy the iPhone 4. The first day alone, analysts predicted 1.2 million units to have shipped. At the end of July, the iPhone 4 will ship to another 18 countries. Let’s just hope by then, the glue of those devices has hardened and Apple has put out a software update.

“This is the most successful product launch in Apple’s history,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Even so, we apologize to those customers who were turned away because we did not have enough supply.”
