Slotland, known for their web and mobile casino games, announced they have chosen the Motorola Razr as the best device for mobile gaming. The person behind this quote is Martin Smith, mobile games manager at Slotland. The reasons for choosing the Razr? It’s the big screen (176×220 pixels) and because it’s J2me support is the best out there. “and Java is what makes our real-money slot machines work on a phone or PDA” Martin Smith said. Slotland is one of the finalists in the ME Awards for best Mobile Gambling Company. This sounds like a pot to start a discussion on. Which phone would you choose?
Definitely NOT the RAZR which is strange choice. Reasons:
(1) Worst OS from any of the big manufacturers.
(2) Most difficult to configure for “internet” GPRS APN settings. (Required for connected Java ME apps)
My choice would be a Nokia S60. N73 maybe?
Nokia S60 anything or SE 176×220 devices but not Moto RAZR – eweeee nasty! 😛
I completely agree with Jason. I would add that the RAZR’s buttons are also not conducive to good gaming. The buttons are at a slightly off angle which makes for some frustrating key pressing. Also, the phone is not ergonomically designed for gaming.
I use a Nokia 6670 to play games and it serves me well.
Martin Smith was speaking specifically about how the Razr is the best choice for mobile casino games such as their slot machines. He likes the Razr from a developer’s point of view and for the large screen. It will be great to see standardized operating systems, won’t it?!
Life is full of choice and opinions and everybody is entitled to their own in an open debate 🙂 I still reckon that flagship Nokia’s and or SE devices would been better for more reasons than would be worth bringing onboard here.
The day that mobile phone OS’s standardize is a day that I can only indeed imagine, I think before that day actually arrrives, Flash Lite will of taken over and it won’t really matter anymore anyway perhaps.
I don’t really dislike the Razr but it’s not really a good gaming phone is it – I mean come on guys! 🙂
hello guyz, ive looking for the best phone for gaming, cause we will having a thesis to make a game and test it on a mobile phone it uses j2me in PL…
