S60 3rd edition, Symbian Signed problems

August 18th, 2006 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Smartphones & Tablets | No Comments »

The Mobile Phone Development Blog reports problems installing Symbian apps and games on operator branded phones from the 3rd edition series 60 devices. Problem is however, it’s not always visible that an operator has branded a phone, meaning consumers will be left in the dark. The problems concern the approval of installation of unsigned software (also known as self-signed). Normally the user will be asked if he allows unsigned software to be installed. In this case however, the user just receives an error message.
