iPhone Loses Market Share in Q4 2009

February 4th, 2010 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: iOS, Research & Stats | No Comments »

Apple Though Apple has seem massive growth of market share since the first iPhone launch, the company has reported a loss of market share for the first time. Time to trade in the iPhone 3GS for something new?

On a global level, the iPhone represented 16.6% of the smartphone sales in Q4 2009. This is 1.5% down from 18.1% in Q3. Still Apple shifted 18% more iPhone in the quarter but that was not enough to cope with the 26% growth of the smartphone market.

Main competing devices in Q4 seemed to have come from Nokia and Motorola who did a huge push on theirs.
