While Vodafone recently declared their interest to increase their
current share in French operator SFR (currently 44%), Vivendi now
challenges Vodafone to sell everything.
SFR is currently ranked as the second biggest operator in France. Vivendi is one of the few (mobile) game developers to own a big share in a highly successful operator and now asked Vodafone to sell their part of the shares (44%) to gain full ownership over SFR.
"If Vodafone … wants to sell its stake, we are ready to buy it. I don’t think this minority participation is meant to last. Our ambition is to pursue investments in telecoms which are part of our value creating businesses," said Chief Executive Jean-Bernard Levy to Le Figaro newspaper.
